Sometimes a change of scenery offers more than a break from routine; it offers fresh perspective. This week I spent a short but meaningful getaway in Whistler. Standing above the valley at Tantalus Lookout along the Sea-to-Sky highway, I was struck by how different everything appeared from a new vantage point. Roads that seemed significant from ground level became thin threads winding through the landscape. Distances felt shorter. Problems felt smaller. The mountains offered a reminder that perspective can change everything.
An unexpected gift of the trip was a conversation with a new friend I met during my travels. We spoke about life, courage, and something she called providence; the idea that once we truly commit ourselves to a path, unexpected opportunities begin to appear. The message resonated deeply.
Over the past few years, I've spent a great deal of time healing, rebuilding, and considering what comes next. Starting a photography business, investing in new equipment, and allowing myself to dream again has often felt uncertain. Yet standing among the mountains, I found myself wondering if perhaps the next chapter begins not with certainty, but with commitment. As I reflected on the journey home, I thought about how many opportunities, friendships, and moments of beauty have entered my life only after I decided to take a step forward. A solo trip to Whistler may seem like a small act, but it reminded me that growth often starts with a willingness to begin before we feel fully ready. The mountains, my new Fujifilm X-T4 camera, and the kindred spirit I met along the way all seemed to carry the same message: trust the path, take the first step, and allow life to unfold.
